We focus on the health of our stylist and clients and we are excited to share some tips and tricks. Young Living has so many wonderful and trusting oils to choose from for your everyday needs! Here are some that we enjoy using!

Lemongrass is made up of two main compounds (citral and geranial) which are known to be great for releasing inflammation in the body. Lemon grass is also used for PMS symptoms, this oil helps relieve menstrual cramping and bloating. Ways to use lemongrass would be to add 2-3 drops of lemongrass vitality to your hot water or tea.

Ginger works wonders for your digestive health and soothing nausea during pregnancy or even after surgery. Ginger is also helpful with removing or minimizing pain for women during their menstrual cycle. This oil is also effective against oral infections like gingivitis. Even though you may not think to use ginger right away when you are not feeling well, it is beneficial and a healthy alternative to keep in mind.

Peppermint helps with digestive issues like indigestion, gas and bloating. Peppermint oil promotes and relaxes a healthy digestion system. Peppermint oil also contains antispasmodic properties which are known to help constipation by relaxing the muscles in the digestive tract. If you are suffering from constipation you may be interested in trying this massage: combine 2-3 drops of peppermint oil with 1 teaspoon of a carrier oil (coconut, grapeseed, avocado oil, etc.). Massage this mixture on your belly and inhale the aroma as well.

Clove is another great oil for constipation and heartburn. This oil helps increase the saliva production helping digestion and reduces peristalsis. Common uses for clove oil are to reduce motion sickness, bloating and gas. Clove oil also reduces inflammation helping acne. One way to use clove for acne is to mix 3 drops of clove with 2 teaspoons of raw honey as a facewash.

Rose has been found to be effective against infections like E. coli, staph and strep throat. There are so many ways to use rose, some of our favorite methods are:

  • Rose oil bath- mix 10 drops of rose oil with your favorite carrier oil in your warm bath water. Be sure to always dilute your oils.
  • Topical/inhalation- dap rose oil lightly on your wrist, chest or neck with your favorite carrier oil before applying to your skin.

Like other oils, rose oil should not be ingested.

Geranium has several health benefits and ways to use the oil. Geranium helps your body release toxins by increasing urination (diuretic). You may inhale the oil using a diffuser or by adding it to food and ingesting it orally. Geranium is also known to help anxiety and depression by calming the mind and lifting your spirit. With this oil you may want to try mixing a few drops with lavender and/or ylang ylang to a warm bath or applying it as perfume.

Oregano is known to protect the gut wall. This is great for healthy good bacterial to help kill germs and negative bacteria protecting a leaky gut. This anti-bacterial oil can be diluted and made into gel capsules or added to your food for extra flavor.

Thyme is also an antibacterial oil that kills germs and bad bacteria like MRSA. Thyme is also great for yeast infections, skin conditions, respiratory infections/coughs, and alopecia. Along with being antibacterial, thyme is also anti-fungal which is great when it comes to fighting yeast infections. Our gut health is responsible for several health issues. Thyme oil can be combined with a carrier oil of your choice and massaged into the scalp to encourage hair growth.

Lavender is amazing to diffuse, helping relax and relieve the body of stress. Stomach conditions like bloating, gas and constipation are less common since your body is relaxed. Massaging lavender oil on your abdomen diluted with a carrier oil is also great for soothing the intestines.
